A FanFaire-SONY Masterworks / Cinemedia CD GIVEAWAY
FanFaire is happy to partner with CineMedia and Sony Masterworks in a GIVEAWAY of five double CD sets of tenor MARIO LANZA’s beloved songs. The songs were compiled and organized by Lanza biographer Derek Mannering who thoughtfully grouped the songs into the “movie years” (on disc one) and the “songs of love and longing” (on disc two). Some of the songs on the discs are being released for the first time! The GIVEAWAY ends November 15, 2013.
As FanFaire’s Mario Lanza pages show, it was through his movies that Mario Lanza popularized opera’s most beloved arias, doing more than any tenor before and after his time to raise the public’s consciousness of the art form. And there can be no question that had Hollywood not “intervened”, Mario Lanza would have earned himself a very high place in the operatic firmament.
