FanFaire is proud to partner with Bridge Records in celebrating the 2011-2012 season with a special CD giveaway: Beethoven’s Complete Music for Cello and Piano.
Performed by Lawrence Lesser (cello) and Hae Sun Paik (piano), and recorded in studio at the New England Conservatory, the CD is a celebration of Laurence Lesser’s 70-year musical journey as an acclaimed cello soloist and chamber musician, beloved teacher of many musicians who have gone on to major performing careers, and President of the New England Conservatory who oversaw the restoration of Boston’s venerable Jordan Hall.

In recent years, Lesser has partnered in performance with prize-winning Korean pianist and New England Conservatory alumna HAESUN PAIK with whom, in addition to recording the works in studio, he performed in a concert of Beethoven sonatas at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea in February 2009, the entirety of which was recorded live on DVD to give the listener a complete musical experience. The DVD, included in this 2-CD set as a bonus, also features enlightening commentaries by Lesser on the sonata as a musical form and Beethoven’s distinctive contributions to the art form. Highly informative program notes accompany this very special recording.
