AMADEUS
Winner
of 8 OSCARs - 1984, including Best Sound
Although it popularizes many "Mozart myths" that
have been debunked, this movie is perhaps the most enjoyable
introduction to the life and works of the musical genius of
all time. The music is of course Mostly Mozart, superbly performed
by the Academy of St, Martin-in-the Fields conducted by Sir
Neville Marriner. It is known to have opened the door to the
enjoyment of classical music for many people who were at best
indifferent to it before. Now available also as a 3-disc box
set which contains music from scenes not included in the original
2-disc soundtrack. |
