Once the scene of lavish Sunday-afternoon parties for socialites and
silent-film stars, the vaulted ballroom of a hilltop Mediterranean villa provides a stunning setting for an all-Mozart program played by the ADASKIN STRING TRIO and Thomas Gallant, oboe.

One of Canada/s premiere ensembles, the trio was named in honor of one of Canada's most loved and respected composers, Murray Adaskin, and his brothers -violinist Harry Adaskin and producer/ music educator John Adaskin. Founded in 1994, the trio is today acclaimed for their technical mastery and the heart-warming charm of their sound. Renowned for their interpretations of a vast repertoire ranging from works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert to masterpieces by twentieth century giants such as Heitor Villa-Lobos and Alfred Schnittke, for this particular program, they will play Mozart's longest work for chamber instruments - the technically demanding and rarely performed Divertimento in E-flat major, K.563. The ensemble members are: Emlyn Ngai (violin), Steve Larson (viola), Mark Fraser (cello). Oboist Thomas Gallant is a First Prize Winner of the Concert Artists Guild Competition whose performances have taken him to major concert halls in Europe and North America.

The villa, known as the  Canfield-Moreno Estate is situated on a hill above the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles.

Chamber Music in Historic Sites is presented by The Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles.
