Animalopera, an opera for children and the child in you was composed by Myron Fink with libretto by Don Moreland who were commissioned by San Diego Opera to write an opera for children Designed for performance by live singers, as a puppet opera, or as mime, it offers exciting possibilities for EDUCATION and OUTREACH and in fact enjoyed several “seasons” in San Diego city schools as a production of the San Diego Opera’s Education and Outreach program. The opera tells the story of a travelling troupe of animal opera singers who all catch a colds on the day they are to perform “Romeo and Juliette” and how the stagehands-a family of mice-save the day.

This recording was made with members of the San Diego Opera Ensemble and the San Diego Youth Symphony under the baton of Karen Keltner, Resident Conductor of the San Diego Opera.
