and educated in Munich where from 1943 to 1949: |

first studied conducting at the Music Conservatory before shifting
to stage design at the Academy for Applied Arts and the Academy
of Fine Arts, with additional studies in opera and theatre at
the University of Munich; |
|
trained
under Clemens Krauss at the State Opera, Munich; |
|
created
his first stage design in 1947, followed by 7 designs for the
State Operetta (until 1952) |
