RINA DOKSHITSKY, pianist


Originally from Israel, Rina first burst into the international scene at the age of 13 when she made her debut with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performing Mendessohn's Piano Concerto No.  in G minor. She then went on to win prizes at the world's major international piano competitions: the International Competition for Young Pianists in Senegalia, Italy (Gold Medal - 1981); the Jerusalem Symphony's Young Artists Competition (1985) the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York (1987); the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv (Silver Medal -1989). She has also won the Bruce Hungerford Memorial Prize and the Mortimer Levitt Career Development Award for Women Artists. She has built an impressive career that has taken her to Italy, Spain, Japan, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and of course, the US where she now resides.

Acclaimed for "playing with ultimate naturalness and considerable charm," Rina has performed solo recitals in such prestigious concerts halls as the Kennedy Center, Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, the Isabella Gardner Museum and Jordan Hall in Boston, and the Ruth Ackerd Hall in Florida.  Her chamber music engagements have included appearances at such world-renowned festivals as the Spoleto Festivals - USA and Italy, Ravinia Festival, and the Grand Teton Music Festival. Apart from her frequent performances with Henry Gronnier and the Rossetti String Quartet, she has collaborated with Soren Bagratuni, Joshua Bell, members of the Borromeo String Quartet, Carter Brey, Colin Carr, Miriam Fried, Gary HoffmanSteven Isserlis, Barnabas Keleman, Kyoko Takezawa and Masuko Ushioda and has appeared with the Jerusalem Symphony, Israel Chamber Orchestra, New England Conservatory Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and Lake Charles Symphony. Recent performances include recitals for National Radio in Jerusalem and the Tel-Aviv Museum recital series as well as concerts with the Israel Chamber Orchestra.

Her discography includes an acclaimed recording on EMI Classics with rising star cellist Alban Gerhardt.

Rina began her music studies in Israel with Ilona Vinzse at age five. She then studied with Russell Sherman athe the New England Conservatory where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees.  Her coaches have included Richard Goode, Gina Bachauer and Claude Frank.

When she's not performing, Rina teaches Master Classes and gives private piano lessons in Los Angeles, CA.
