"What's in a name? That which we call a Rossetti
By any other name would be just as sweet."
-after Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet Act 2, Scene 2 line 33

The Rossetti String QuartetA Rossetti (Paolo and Francesca da Rimini - by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, watercolor, 1855, on exhibit at London's Tate Gallery)

Or as sweet-sounding.

The Rossetti String Quartet chose a name symbolic of their aesthetic ideals: ROSSETTI, as in Daniel Gabriel (1828-82) or originally Gabriel Charles Dante - the English (though obviously of Italian descent) poet-painter who personified the Pre-Raphaelite movement in art during the Victorian era and whose works, such as the Paolo and Francesca da Rimini watercolor shown above, combine the vivid use of colors with touches of romanticism, naturalism and symbolism. And it is these same qualities which the Rossetti String Quartet strive for through their natural and very personal style of music-making.
So... shall we now listen to the Rossetti sound?
