and the Istanbul Oriental Ensemble  Take an excursion into world music with the versatile Burhan Öçal, composer and multi-iinstrumentalist, as he leads his talented ensemble through a performance of Turkish classical music "in caravan". While some of the musical instruments may be somewhat unfamiliar - darbouka (finger drum), ud (lute), qanun (zither) - the rhythms, the tones and the melodies engage the listener, transcending any hint of "otherness" and attesting to the universality of music.
