The New York City Opera was Richard Leech's first stop on his way to the big league. He made his debut here in 1984 as Rodolfo, his favorite role, and sang to acclaim 7 roles over a period 5 seasons. It was here where he made his role debuts as Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata and Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon.

Next stop: Europe and the MET.
