2015 Awardees - Preliminary Announcement

On the fifth anniversary of Hildegard Behrens’ passing, Foundation Chairman Dr. Gaston Ormazabal issued a prelimary statement announcing the organizations which will administer the 2015 Hildegard Behrens Foundation Humanitarian Awards to promising young artists participating in their respective development programs. This year, as in 2012, the recipient organizations include:

• The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program (see Gallery photos);
• The Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA); and
• The Gabriela Mistral Foundation of Chile.

The names of the young artists participating in the Lindemann and YOA development programs who will receive the awards will be announced later in the year. The award to the Gabriela Mistral Foundation is in support of the National Museum for Women in the Arts - Chilean Chapter, funding the First Prize, to be called the “Hildegard Behrens Prize”, of the first singing competition in Chile for women singers.

Clearly, the stage is set for more exciting Foundation news in the months ahead!
