2012 AWARDEES
In memory of the 75th Birth Anniversary (February 9, 2024) of the great German dramatic soprano, the Hildegard Behrens Foundation proudly announced the recipients of the 2012 Humanitarian Awards:

- The Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in recognition of the magnificent young soprano, Emalie Savoy
- The Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), recognizing five outstanding young instrumentalist-humanitarians from the Americas: Franco Carranza Cárdenas of Peru (trumpet), Isaac Casal of Panamá (cello), Marilinda Garcia of the US (harp), Raul Gomez of Costa Rica (violin), and Scott Harrison of the US (bassoon).
- The Gabriela Mistral Foundation in recognition of its work for the poor children of Chile;
- The Humanitarian Leadership Award to First Lady Cecilia Morel for her stewardship of Chile’s Youth & Children’s Orchestra Foundation (FOJI) to fund “Playing a Dream” tour of Germany and Austria.
As in previous years, the Young Artists Humanitarian Awards will support advanced professional training and performance opportunities of the talented young artists associated with the grantee institutions who were chosen because of their keen musical intelligence and deep humanity.
