NINA TICHMAN, pianist
Acclaimed in the German press as one of the leading pianists of her generation,
the American Nina Tichman has been the winner of numerous international competitions
- such as the Busoni, Mendelssohn and Casagrande. She has appeared in concert
and in recital in the world's major musical centers and has been the subject of
radio and television portraits in Europe, Asia and North America.
A graduate of the Juilliard School where she was awarded the Eduard-Steuerman-Prize
for outstanding musical achievement, Ms. Tichman is active as a soloist, chamber
musician and teacher. She has performed and taught at numerous music festivals
such as Marlboro, Tanglewood, Music from Salem, the International Musicians Seminar
at Prussia Cove, Frankfurt Feste, Rheingau Music Festival and many others where
she premiered works dedicated to her. In 1993, she was appointed Professor of
Piano at the Cologne Musikhochskule and in 1999 she led master classes at the
Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Seelscheider in New York and in Frankfurt.
Her recitals have included acclaimed performances of the complete piano works
of Claude Debussy and her recordings of the music of Mendelssohn, Debussy, and
Chopin have been praised as a major revelation. She has also recorded the complete
piano works of Aaron Copland.
