MOLINER and GUITARISTDENIS
AZABAGIC
are TRUE MASTERS of THEIR ART and SUPERB INTERPRETERS of the
MUSIC of ASTOR PIAZZOLLA (1921-1992),
the ARGENTINE COMPOSER
who INFUSED
ELEMENTS of JAZZand CLASSICAL
MUSIC into HIS BELOVED TANGO,
TRANSFORMING IT INTO AN ART FORM WARMLY WELCOMED
INTO THE CONCERT REPERTOIRE BY TODAY'S GREAT PERFORMING ARTISTS.
The CAVATINA
DUO first made their mark in the international scene in 1996
when they won the "Young Musicians of the Doelen"
competition in the Netherlands. Their performances have been
acclaimed by critics and audiences across Asia, Europe and
North America. While the duo's repertoire spans all of classical
music, from baroque to contemporary, the highlights of their
concerts are those electrifying moments when they perform
works inspired by the folk traditions of the countries of
their birth, Spain (Ms. Moliner) and Bosnia (Mr. Azabagic).
Both members of the duo are faculty members at the Chicago
College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University in Chicago.
LISTEN to excerpts and take
delight in the exceptional musicality and the passion tempered
by flawless technique that the duo brings to some of Piazzolla's
masterpieces. The great Argentine composer undoubtedly would
have approved. [The background music that introduced
this page is from Track 1 - "Libertango".]
